Ice and Snow

Last week the rain barrel froze. I had to chop with an axe to get some water to water the plants on the porch. When the thaw came, the ice apparently disconnected from the barrel, and floated up several inches. Cool pic, huh?

Simon out for a frolic. He came sledding with me twice, and would run behind the sled. Should've had my camera.

Happy New Year (sort of)

We went to the Long Beach Peninsula to see mom & dad for New Year's. Above is Simon partying. New Year's Day Steph woke up with the stomach flu, and was in bed for the next 24 hours straight. Not a good 2007 so far for her! Earlier that day, Willapa Bay was unusually calm, so I kayaked over to the famous Cedar Grove. Above is a cedar tree. It looks larger in real life. Below is a sitka spruce (rare for the grove) we once named Bruce the Spruce.
